Taj Mahal

We’re just starting to plan our honeymoon in India, and decided to start this blog to chronicle our journey. We’re planning to visit Rajasthan in late September or October 2011 for three weeks. So far, we’ve only just decided where to go: we’ll be flying into Mumbai, then traveling to Aurangabad, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Agra, Varanasi, Dharamsala, and Delhi. We have a lot to do over the next several months, since we still need to get plane/train tickets, make hotel reservations and decide what to see in each city.

I think we’ve got about 10 different guidebooks at this point, and we’ve recently finished watching the BBC series on India from Netflix. Although we might seem a little obsessed with India, it was actually pretty difficult to decide where we wanted to spend our honeymoon. The original contenders were: Peru (hike the Inca trail), Morocco, and India. But, after a lot of discussion, we settled on India. We’ve both always wanted to go there, but it’s hard to take off the vacation time (and it’s $$$). I think we both figured that the honeymoon is the time to do it, even though it’s not the usual sort of honeymoon destination.

We’ll be posting infrequently until the trip, then when we get back we hope to share many photos and stories. In the meantime, if you have any helpful tips or ideas on what to see, please let us know!
